The draft of the sixth phase of Beijing's motor vehicle emission standards and fuel standards (Beijing VI standards) has been basically formulated, and efforts are being made to implement them in 2017.
At the "2015 Big City Motor Vehicle Pollution Prevention and Control Technology Seminar", Li Kunsheng, Director of the Motor Vehicle Emission Management Department of the Beijing Environmental Protection Bureau, stated that in the future, Beijing will implement the world's strictest motor vehicle emission standards and fuel standards to alleviate the problem of motor vehicle pollution in big cities.
It is understood that motor vehicle emissions are one of the main sources of PM2.5 in this city. To improve motor vehicle pollution, one of the channels is to provide oil products and emission standards. Li Kunsheng stated that monitoring results show that in order for Beijing's air quality to meet national control quality standards, various pollution sources must continuously reduce their total emissions. As an important source of pollution, the total emissions of motor vehicle pollution need to be significantly reduced. Therefore, implementing stricter or even the strictest motor vehicle emission standards in Beijing in the future is an inevitable measure to improve air quality.
So, what are the strict standards of the "Beijing VI" standard? It is reported that according to the "Beijing VI" motor vehicle emission standards, light-duty vehicles will be strictly controlled in terms of "normal temperature", "low temperature", "evaporation", etc., to control the emission of volatile organic compounds (VOCs) during refueling, and corresponding standards will be formulated. In addition, for heavy-duty vehicles, reference will be made to the Euro VI heavy-duty engine emission standards, while developing engine and vehicle emission standards.
In terms of oil products, the sulfur content of the 'Jingliu' standard is consistent with that of the 'Jingwu' standard, still below 10PPM. Li Kunsheng said that gasoline will further reduce indicators such as olefins, aromatics, vapor pressure, distillation range, benzene, and diesel will further reduce indicators such as polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons and density.
In addition, according to national standards, in 2017, key areas including Beijing Tianjin Hebei began supplying the fifth phase of vehicle fuel, and it is planned to implement the fifth phase of vehicle emission standards in 2017. Starting from 2018, the fifth phase of vehicle fuel has been supplied nationwide, which has also created conditions for Beijing to implement stricter motor vehicle emission standards.
