He Kebin, an academician of the CAE Member and a professor of the School of Environment of Tsinghua University, said at the third session of the China News Agency Forum "Energy China" on the 29th that the current is the key stage of China's motor vehicle electrification, and new industrial policies are urgently needed to "relay".
He Kebin stated that currently, the scale of new energy vehicles in China has exceeded 4 million, accounting for over 50% of the world's total and ranking first in the world. In 2019, the production and sales of new energy vehicles in China reached 1.24 million and 1.2 million respectively.
He Kebin pointed out that the scale of new energy vehicles in China has been growing rapidly from 2014 to 2018, with a slight decline last year. The important influencing factor is the weakening of subsidy policies, and the development of the industry has entered a new stage of gradually shifting from policy orientation to market-oriented development. This is the fluctuation that occurred during the transformation process. China's motor vehicles have entered a critical stage of electrification.
From the perspective of industrial planning, he pointed out that from 2020 to 2030, if the scale of new energy vehicles increases from 5 million to 80 million, the new energy vehicle industry system can be initially formed. This means that the new energy vehicle industry chain is developing comprehensively, with the largest scale leading the world, and is independently controllable.
Nowadays, He Kebin stated that accelerating the ban on traditional fuel vehicles and the development of new energy vehicles has become an international consensus. China's proposal to strive for achieving carbon neutrality by 2060 will greatly stimulate breakthroughs in some limiting factors at the technical and micro levels, and greatly promote the electrification of automobiles.
According to China's emission reduction targets, He Kebin stated that the proportion of electricity consumption in the transportation sector, also known as electrification, will increase from 20% to 40%. The electrification of automobiles and motor vehicles is a key milestone in achieving emission reduction goals in the future, and will also play a more important role in improving air quality and contributing to carbon reduction.
